This is the first of the Italian gigs of September 1991.
It was a hot night, especially hard for a bunch of guys from the north of Norway to work inside of a small club at the island of Ischia outside of Naples. But still, this recording found them rockin` through a lot of their 80s originated material.
In 2004, when "Cosmorama" were chosen as a release, it was considered that the Naples concert from September 12th, was the obviously most interesting gig. Listening to the tapes from the 11th thirty years later, showed this dogmatic perception to be seriously challenged.
This album contains all the numbers that were performed, although not in the original running order, due to cirumstances in the club. But the album is arranged to be true to an intended order, had the band had full control over the events there and then.
As for technical details, "Pagoda" had the tape running out right before the ending and "Cryptic" had the first bars missing, so the medley-like presentation here is to to solve that problem without meaningless fades. This could have been something the band would have done on stage, though, in style of passages within several of their tunes !
Also, this was the very last time "Chew" was performed live and the only time with the special mid-section that can be heard here.
This concert has earlier been semi-officially available on cassette in the "Tangle Edge Tapes"-series.
This one along with Downpour and Diversions Vol 2 their best work in my opinion.
Here they perform with no strings attached, no limits.
Pure bliss, highly recommend! Spacecowboy88
Great album, nice packaging, but still a bit boring. The music sometimes gets lost too much in endless repetitions of short sequences. Hardly any change. A little more complexity and sophistication would be desirable. HansPeter Muff
